» looking for a death in nigeria

I am trying to find out if Kenneth Briggs died on april 21,1999 he was with the shell development company in nigeria,I heard he was killed in a car accident on above date along with his wife and three children it happened on the Sagamu Express Road..can you verify thisPlease forgive me if I am on the wrong track here, but I can't help wondering if this accident is related to a financial proposition. Unfortunately, there is quite a history of emails and letters from Nigeria about unclaimed money waiting for the right person to 'unlock' it. It's not unusual for this to be linked to stories of tragic accidents. Letter 3 on this page is an example of a request for bank details based on the story of a whole family dying i...... - 2009-07-03

» Loading Movie (swf) on Load?

Is there anyway to load a swf file into a movieclip on load. Here is my dilemma obviously I am an ultra newbie and lazy so i got an flash photo gallery program to generate a flash photogallery for me. The problem is it only outputs is as a SWF file. I am working with scenes so I was wondering if there was anyway as soon as i switch to the gallery scene to have the swf photo gallery load on the screen. Thanks alot!http://www.kirupa.com/forum/showthread.php?p=1779338#post1779338 I'm not usually one to tell people to search, but in this case i've answered the question twice in the last day or two. » Tornado Glory

So, I saw this in the paper today. An OU grad student made an independent film about storm chasing featuring Joel Taylor and Reed Timmer. Apparently it won some award in some contest or something. I think they are showing it tonight at Meacham Auditorium (OU Union) at 8. Here's a link to the website: http://www.tornadoglory.com Looks *interesting* to say the least, so I thought I would pass it along.surprisingly that looks really good, wish i could see it :(I know I will be going along with a group of meterology students.I will be interested to hear the thoughts of those who see it. I watched the trailer but it's hard to get a feel from just a few seconds. I hope the movie doesn't focus only on the risk taking and "getting as c...... - 2009-07-03

Japan will try to curb spending to tame debt www.chinaview.cn 2005-01-24 08:25:24 BEIJING, Jan. 24 -- Japan will try to curb spending to tame the world's heaviest public debt and work together with the Bank of Japan to stamp out more than six years of deflation, Finance Minister Sadakazu Tanigaki said. "We are determined to overhaul the structure of the economy to achieve sustainable growth," Tanigaki said in a speech delivered to parliament at its opening session. Japan's public debt has mushroomed amid three recessions since 1991 as the government tried to spur the economy with spending on roads, bridges and dams and through tax cuts. Combined central and local government debt will reach 151 per cent...... - 2009-07-03

» South Pole, the Sun, and other fun optics

Ok, everyone knows that in the polar regions you can experience both 24 hours of daylight and darkness. I just wanted to confirm that at both the north and south poles there is only one sunrise and sunset each year...or just one day a year. So I am at the south pole, standing on my head of course to avoid getting sick and living it up with pure planetary vorticity. I assume that around the spring equinox the sun begins to poke above the horizon. A few days later it rises fully above the horizon and circles around the sky for the next six months before dipping below the horizon for the next six months or so. Is that correct? Or is the sun only fully above the horizon for a days or weeks? Also, does anybody know of any other cool o...... - 2009-07-03

» How can I copy my existing hard drive to a new RAID 1 array?

Hello, I am planning to set up a RAID 1 array on my computer. I have purchased two new Seagate 160GB ATA drives (both brand new, unformatted, unpartitioned) that I plan to use as a 160 GB mirrored array. However, currently I have a smaller capacity hard drive that I am using now as my primary boot drive with the operating system installed (Windows 2000, NTFS formatted). The mechanics of setting up the RAID array seem straightforward, but my question is, is it possible to duplicate the contents of my existing hard drive to the array? This would save me the trouble of reinstalling Windows, plus all my applications, drivers, settings, etc. My motherboard is the Soyo KT-333 Dragon Ultra Platinum which uses the Highpoint HPT372 chipset...... - 2009-07-03

» Wanting to buy a 2008 Toyota Highlander...?

There are still a lot of new 2008 model Toyota Highlanders on the lots where I live but they are still selling around $30k. I see specials on 2008 Highlanders such as $2000 cash and 0% financing. Am I able to use both of these specials? Or is it only one or the other? How much would I be able to talk down the price on one of these cars?Hi, You can take the rebate or the financing. But you cant take both. Sales have declined rapidly for the past couple of months so you should be able to get it at $300 below the invoice price. What trim are you looking at? What options are you interested in? 4wd? Leather? Sunroof? By the way, I recommend the zero % financing (if you qualify, that is).Go to www.toyota.com Type in your zip code And ...... - 2009-07-03

Okay, well right now i am having a lot of trouble with this one boy.I have really strong feelings for him, but i am just not sure if he feels the same way.I have got told he does from other people and some days he flirts with me, but then the next day it's like i'm invisible. I get told he wants too ask me out, but when it comes too the moment of him asking me out he backs out and tells everyone i have too do it? Can somebody please help me with this situation, Is he worth the wait?I think that if he really was interested he would have done it already. I'm a newbie and tried to find an answer via searching the forums but unsuccessfully. I was at a friend's birthday party. She was opening gifts in front of the patio but inside. I shoot with a Nikon D50 - WB was direct sunlight - 50mm/1.8 lens Nikkor AF Should I have used a flash? I'm sorry I don't have a picture to post (I'm at work..shhhh)hard to tell, maybe you had a wider range of brightness than you camera can handle? maybe some parts of the images are jts badly overexposed? wohaa.. 500mm on an aps-c sized sensor appears very long for this sort of photography.i don't think it wo...... - 2009-07-03

» Opinion: What grade (K-5) would you teach? And why?

I'm in the home stretch of getting my degree in ECE. I have been in many schools and also have worked and tutored in grades but haven't quite determined which grade is for me. I'm just curious as to what grade you would teach or how you figured out what grade to teach if that is your profession. Kindergarten. Children are the most likely to be innocent at this age and it is an important time to show them how to use good manners, to be kind, to share, to teach them basic skills and help them learn. I feel like they need to have that year as a good experience so that they can have a brighter future :)4th grade. For me it was a turning point. Alright, I am a Junior in high school right now and I really have no idea how to approach this stuff. I considered myself a fairly decent student, although pretty lazy, and I am currently taking Dual Credit Biology 150. I have taken my PSAT and I will be taking my ACT this Spring, up in North Dakota they use the ACT more than the SAT. I guess I am wondering what I should major in and what job would best suit me. I want to do something I like, but I want to make a decent wage also. » What to expect post divorce - with a child?

pls tell me what challenges and problems come your way after divorce. I have an 8 year old child and am just about restarting work..First, you will find a lot of competition for men. The bars are full of 34 yr. old women looking for a man to support their children and them. Good Luck finding one. Second, you will have to budget your income and provide for yourself. The money sent for child support is just that, it is support for the child, not enough for you to survive on. Third, you will have to do for yourself. The things you used to tell your spouse to do, you now need to do. That means when the car breaks down, or the heater quites in the middle of the night, it is no longer his responsibility to come fix it. Try to remember, ...... - 2009-07-03

» How many generations are in 800 years?

According to this website http://home.san.rr.com/artist/16.html 800 years held approximately 32 generations ("control F" to search, then type "32 generations ago (aprox 800 years)" and you will see where it says this). This was with the limited medicine and the life expectancy being about 40, if that. Now with American life expectancy being almost double, women are getting married at a later age (instead of an average age of 14 like in medieval times, the average age of marriage for american women in 2008 is mid 30's). So the average age of women getting married and subsequently giving birth is rising because of increasing life expectancy. Because of this, the number of 32 generations in 800 years is now obsolete. So what do you think ...... - 2009-07-03

I think this is the biggest failure of science and generally the world. It is full of imperfections, even though religion is not a better alternative. But, what can you define as a disease; and what can you not? First of all, we have to realize that all humans are different physically. But they should be treated equally on moral basis, and on the basis of humanity (whether its gay ppl, straight ppl, women, old ppl; they should be treated equally on moral grounds). Because people are different physically; they exhibit different behavior due to the chemistry of their body. Here is where the tricky part comes. Becauset is impossible for Catholics to worship Mary. "Worship" has been defined as applying only to God.Catholics do not worship Mary but we do highly respect her. LYRA is a German company, and on their domestic market, the watercolor paint boxes are intended for serving as rather low-price equipment for school children. » Calculus problem 1

Find the slope of the tangent line to the curve of intersection of the elliptic paraboloid z = x^2 + (y^2)/4 and the plane x = 2 at the point (2,2,5).Google Answers discourages and may remove questions that are homework or exam assignments.Let's look at the curve of intersection first. Obviously we'll have x=2, and z = 4 + y^2 / 4. I assume the 'slope' refers to the slope in the y-z plane, since it's pretty meaningless otherwise. Now, z'(y) (or dz/dy if you prefer that notation) = 2y / 4 = y / 2 along this curve. So at the point (2, 2, 5) (which is indeed on the curve - you need to check these things) z'(y) = 1. Now the slope is an angle t such that tan t = z'(y), so it's pi/4 or 45 degrees....... - 2009-07-03

» What should you have accomplished in life at 24 for not being called a loser ?

im gettin a little paranoid in here.. lolAt 24 I'd returned to college after foreign war service to get my degree in law enforcement and corrections. At 24 I was lifting fingerprints off a human hand that had been in a freezer 6 weeks, fingering a shooting suspect by finding spent projectile, and more hand-to-hand practice. This was not a year I would do differently, thank you.Become a CEO of a multi-national company or at least a branch manager of a local business.Who cares what people think of you, its what you think of yourself that matters.Whatever goals you set for yourself, you should be trying to accomplish. » Chevy cavailer 89 need help?

how can i get the raditor sealant that has been there for 2 years without damaging the systemmissing a word here (out) vinger & water 50/50You cant really remove whatever has hardened . The best I can suggest is to flush the system. Pull the top hose off the radiator and hang it off to the side . put a garden hose in the radiator top hose hole . Run the water enough so that it pours out the sides of the garden hose and radiator hole slightly. You will need to secure the garden hose in the radiator hole and secure the top hose off out of the way. Run the motor for 20 minutes after the engine has heated up. Once the engine heats up and the manual thermostat opens, the (hot) water out of the block will be flushed out the ...... - 2009-07-03

» Ajax.php causing errors??

Mu host just responded to my request to look into some MySQL errors for me and he said that http://thesourcecheck.com/forum/ajax.php was causing the issues. Does this make any sense to anyone? If so, how can I adjust/edit it to fix it? Thanks in advance. What are the database errors that you are receiving? That is more important than the file that is running. They are posted in thread: http://www.vbulletin.com/forum/showthread.php?t=275029 The host also said I have too many categories on my home page....I can't believe this would be the problem. My forum is only 1 month old or so and doesn't get that much traffic to overload the MySQL. IMHO. I wonder if the shared server I'm on is too full. Any thoughts?A link to the cause of those...... - 2009-07-03

» Help printing with Adobe CS

I am trying to make a print in Adobe CS with an HP deskjet printer. First off, I know the quality will be lacking with this printer, but for what i need for this project it is fine. Ok, so When I go to "print with preview" there are all kinds of color management options. Before I waste anymore paper or ink, how do I get it to print the same as it apears on my NEC monitor?? This is frustrating! Thanks, RtSYou'll need to calibrate everything. I did a google search for it but there's so much stuff out there and so many instructions. I do backwards calibration sometimes if I'm lazy. I find it's the easiest - but probably not the best. Just make up a PS document with a bunch of different colours, red, green, blue, black, white, grey....... - 2009-07-03

» Insurance Premiums You Can Eat

Here's a great article by Darkhorse (Marilyn Bardsley): Preparing For a Severe Pandemic: Insurance Premiums You Can Eat November 13, 2006 Very few people take time out of their day to imagine what life would be like if going to the grocery store could mean a death sentence, not only for you but for your whole family. During a pandemic this could easily be the case. Once a pandemic is confirmed, air travel may have already begun to deliver it around the world. Because influenza is infectious before symptoms appear, there would be no way to positively identify people who may be infected. It's possible that a pandemic virus could start to show up in your area a couple of weeks after being identified in Hong Kong, Jakarta or Bombay....... - 2009-07-03

» vertically center swf file

Hi all, This is probably a stupid question, but I can't figure out a way to get this to work! I have a small swf file, (sized 300x237), and I would like it to center itself on my webpage. There's a little piece of code in the embedding script that centers it horizontally (align="middle") but I can't figure out what code to use to center it vertically on the page. I've tried valign="middle" and valign="center", and neither work. But I don't know what else to try, I don't even know what type of script it is. Here is the the part I'm referring to: Thanks for your help!Center flash in IE + FF (http://board.flashkit.com/board/showthread.php?t=712057&highlight=center+flash+firefox)what about placing a center tag before/after the object?!that w...... - 2009-07-03

» Where would I find verses about God's hate for Sin?

I have Proverbs chapter 6, but I need more. About how when we sin it causes God pain. How God hates SIn. About how living a holy life pleases God! Please Help!!!Here are a few: Psalms 5:4 For You [are] not a God who takes pleasure in wickedness, Nor shall evil dwell with You. 5 The boastful shall not stand in Your sight; You hate all workers of iniquity. 6 You shall destroy those who speak falsehood; The Lord abhors the bloodthirsty and deceitful man. Psalms 11:5 The Lord tests the righteous, But the wicked and the one who loves violence His soul hates. 6 Upon the wicked He will rain coals; Fire and brimstone and a burning wind [Shall] [be] the portion of their cup. 7 For the Lord [is] righteous, He loves righteousness; His countenanc...... - 2009-07-03

» How do you decide on a career when you have so many options?

I want to become a film director and screenwriter. I also want to be a baker and own my own bakery shop. I love and have passion for both of there careers, but I can't decide on which one to pick.Try doing the process of eliminationYou do understand that you only become a director or screenwriter in Hollywood if you have been around for years and hav networked your way to knowing just the right people. And there are about 1,000,000 in the LA area right now trying to network enough for this to happen. about 500 of them will make it.You just have to do what you love - if you don't, you'll never be happy. Sometimes you can do more than one thing, of course. If you're looking for a way to make some quick cash on ...... - 2009-07-03

» Why do people hate God?

explainBecause people like control. Many claim to be Atheist...but then spend most their time bashing God and his people. I find it more reasonable that they just hate God and want to believe he's not real because it would take a lot of power away from them. An almighty being that created everything can be quite an intimidating thought.I was raised in a Protestant church and consider myself a Christian and a believer of God, however, I do have my doubts. When you see the 2004 tsunami or Katrina or school shootings or 9/11 or starving children you wonder why God didn't do something about it. Christians say all things are God's will and people (including me) just don't understand why those kind of things would be God...... - 2009-07-03

» scanner woes

I'm getting these swirlies (Wood grain like pattern) on my negative scans. Does anyone know where these are coming from- no i'm sober so it's not that. The negatives are clean of any weirdness(oil, gooey stuff, etc...) so I'm convinced its my scanner - epson 1650. I know epsons are notorious for their belts breaking...is this the beginning of the end for my scanner? or is there something wrong elsewhere. I've scanned over 350 negatives with this machine and it's never done this before. I tweeked the configuration and nothing. maybe it's time fer a new one. ah? any input? Those are called newton rings. The only way to completely prevent them is to go with a dedicated film scanner with a glassless negative carrier or wet mounted with a drum ...... - 2009-07-03
