autocomplete user name and passwords in forms using windows XP

By jack | March 12, 2010

  • I have been searching for days now how to correct and error I made. I went to a web site and it asked for my name and password. I typed it in and a dialog box came up and asked me if: Do you want Windows to remember your password? I clicked no by mistake. Ever since then I have had to type in this information. I cleared all history and passwords and unchecked all options in the autocomplete section of content under internet options, restarted internet explorer, then went and rechecked all the options and restarted internet explorer but I still don't get the option of having Windows remember my login ID and Passwords. How do I fix this?

  • Spot on pink!!

  • I've done exactly the same thing in the past ! Try this: Tools, Internet options, content Click the auto complete button Uncheck the "auto complete user name and passwords on forms" option. You can also delete your auto complete history from this page. That worked for me. Hope this helps.

  • Since I do not use XP, I cannot be certain that this will work with your setup, but it's worth a try: Click 'Tools' in Internet Explorer. Choose 'Internet Options'. Click the 'Content' tab. Under the 'Personal Information' heading, click the 'Auto Complete' button. Click the "User names and passwords on forms" button. Click 'Prompt me to save passwords.' Please let me know if this solves your problem.
