Ftp speed

  • i've searched the forums and can't find a situation similar to mine or an answer that may help...so here's my problem...

    i can ftp stuff to my xbox, no problem...speeds approaching 10,000 - 11,000 kbps on big files...

    but, when i try to transfer something off of my xbox, the speeds are more like 100 kbps...bleh...

    i am running xp sp2, dlink 524 router, using flashfxp for the transfer. *the problems may have started when i got sp2...is there something in the firewall that may be causing this? *i've tried disabling firewall completely to see, but that doesn't seem to make a difference.

    i've also looked into settings on my router, but that hasn't helped...

    i'm not real good with firewalls and such, so any opinions on what may be causing this would be appreciated.

  • well, dl speeds are supposed to be slower than uplaoding speeds, but i don't think they should be goin that much slower, you can always configure your firewall to let you xbox ip adress through.....

    when windows installs sp2, a firewall is put on, but you can change your firewall settings in the control panel.


  • damn, i have the same prob. tried it with dissabeling all firewalls but it didnt help


  • i have tried a couple versions of xbmc, but all versions have had the same problem.

    i have tried many different firewall settings, including disabled, and that hasn't helped.

    i guess i'll go buy a new router and see if that helps.

    if anyone else has encountered this problem and has a solution in the meantime, before i go try a new router, i'd appreciate it.

  • i've also noticed that xbmc's ftp server has become 'worse' over the past 2 months. i'll try to do some more extenisive tests to post some real information, but is has been slowers for in both directions.
