My cockatiel Charlie is nearly 17 weeks old. we got him when he was 9 weeks old he was not hand raised or trained in any way. So in the 8 weeks we have had him he has learned to wolf whistle whistled some tunes & has just started to say what you doing. He loves everyone & makes kissing sounds. He´s such a beautiful boy so proud at what the whole family has taught him in such a quick time. I think we are going to have a very loving & loved tiel for a long time. The one in a life time sort of bird that you only seem to get once. Sorry but one very proud tiel mum.If your tiel is a Normal Grey, then that is normal. My cockatiel was exactly the same & at 5 years old he's still picking up words & small phrases.
Normal grey males are usually the ones who learn this much & this quickly. They have the best talking ability & are able to quickly learn compared to other mutations. Of course there is the exception with another mutation too. Normal grey males talking ability can come at a price though, they can be very bratty at times.
EDIT: He sounds like a cinnamon or pearl. How very cool . They are great pets and the younger you get them the more they seem to want to please you ... They are one of the best pets out there .. They also seem to know when you are having a bad day and can seemingly make it all go away and melt with those little eyes ..go ahead brag you deserve to ! Congrats on having a smart bappy I envy you. that's awesome!Very good. It shows how much you have been working with him. He's even talking earlier than average (most don't start talking until at least 6 months old) Very cleaver, you must really have a knack with him and worked very hard!#If you have any other info about this subject , Please add it free.# |
