Question about MIS vs CS.?

By anonym | March 15, 2010

  • I am currently a sophomore in the MIS program and I was thinking about switching to CS with a Buisness Concentration. I am definitely going into the IS field for businesses but I was wondering which of these would be a better choice. Let me explain a little.
    1. MIS - Will finish in 4 years, know more business than tech, and i would plan to get my MBA after a few years of working.
    2. CS:Business - Will finish in 4 years, know more tech than business, and I would pursue my master's as soon as I finish my bachelors for free. (My college will send a student thru his master's for free if he is in engineering or CS.) But I cannot get an MBA which I think will hurt me later when I am trying to get a mangers job.
    3. MIS/CS:Business double major - Should finish in 4-5 years. I would pursue my master's in CS and would probably get my MBA a few years later.

So what I am asking is which of these would be the best choice for starting salary, career advancement, and would the double major be worth the money?
