I would recommend this article "So you want to be a witch" and the subsequent Witchcraft 101 articles linked on this page:

witchcraft does exist, dispite what anyone may tell you. i have practiced it, and seen results, and i know other people who practice it and have seen results
do not just start trying to cast any spells right away. make sure you have a firm grip on the idea of spell casting first so when you actually get to doing any of it, you know what your doing.
i cant reccomend any specific books because im not sure what would be right for you. most bookstores have a huge metaphysical section where loads of good books can be found. depending on the size of your local library, they may even have books. i do reccomend buying the ones that interest you most so you have them as references. also get yourself a notebook to take notes.
sounds like a lot of busy work but it is really worth it. i found witchcraft after a long search of religions, and i couldnt be happier.
Also a lot of belief, and a lot of concentration.
But for the most part study is very important.
What I am saying is that what you need most is the dedication to acquiring knowledge. Any Magickal or practical tools will not be necessary until you have learned their usage.
Here is a list of some of the crafts.
Dowsing
Midwifery
Healer
Bone setter
Herbalist
Maker of potions
Candle maker
Animal caller
Scientists
Teachers of philosophy
Psychic
Empath
Maker of poultices
Librarians
Finder of Ley Lines
All of those within the above crafts have been called witches by Christianity and many executed for practicing their craft in past centuries. Spells are not in the list because the use of spells is a very personal and can be synonymous with prayer and calling to a higher entity. Spells are not crafts, though a spell may be crafted.
